Rabbi Carrie Vogel

Rabbi Carrie Vogel serves as the Director of the Jewish Experience Center. Carrie will oversee and work with the JEC team to make sure that our programming and experiences are at the highest level.

Carrie was ordained as a rabbi from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion here in Los Angeles in 2009. In addition she received a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters in 2006 and a Master of Arts in Jewish Education in 2007 from HUC-JIR. During Carrie’s time in rabbinic school she worked at a number of synagogues, camps and day schools in the greater Los Angeles area. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Cincinnati.

Carrie and her husband Brian are the proud parents of their son, Jonah. She loves The Ohio State Buckeyes, hiking and reading.

Rose Orlovich

Rose Orlovich has a Bachelor of Arts in Jewish Studies and a Master of Arts in Education from the American Jewish University. She grew up attending a Jewish day school program

and summer camp, both of which helped shape her passion for learning about Judaism. Rose has worked at Jewish camp, preschool, religious school, youth, and parent and me programs.

Rose is excited to bring her passion for Jewish learning and practice to Kehillat Israel. She looks forward to getting to know the families and staff at the Jewish Experience Center. In her free time, Rose enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Jennifer Glickman

Jennifer received a B.A.in sociology from the University of California, San Diego. Immediately after graduating UCSD, Jennifer worked in the corporate world as a human resources professional.

After gaining valuable work experience, she returned to graduate school at California State University, Northridge to earn a Masters in Social Work (MSW). Since graduating with her MSW, she worked passionately at a foster/adoption agency as a social worker, advocating for foster children, engaging foster/adoptive parents, and leading support groups.

Since childhood, Jennifer has been active in the Jewish community, participating in youth groups including BBG (B’nai Brith Girls) and USY (United Synagogue Youth). Her strong Jewish identity, passion for inspiring children, teens, and families, and her commitment totikkun olam and informal learning combine to make her a perfect youth leader. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, yoga, and swimming.

Rachel Levin

JEC Assistant Director, Experiential Education

Rachel Levin is excited to be a part of the Jewish Experience Center team as JEC Assistant Director, Experiential Education. Rachel graduated from Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, Los Angeles

in 2012 with Masters Degrees in Jewish Education and Jewish Nonprofit Management. She is also a graduate of UC Berkeley where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies with an emphasis in Judaism.

During her time at HUC-JIR, Rachel interned at KI and loved being a part of the JEC community, including going to OJE at camp each month. Her passion for Jewish and experiential education comes from years attending and working with religious schools, summer camps, Israel trips, youth groups, and an ECC. Most recently, she worked at the iCenter for Israel Education in Northbrook, IL. In her free time, Rachel loves running, photography, and appreciating the California sunshine.

Roxanne Bañuelos serves as our Office Administer in the JEC. Roxanne received a BA in English with a minor in Sociology as well as a BA in Communications Studies from Loyola Marymount University.

Right after college she attended California State University Northridge to receive a MA in Communication Studies. Her studies were about to take her to the University of Denver to complete a PhD in Critical Cultural Studies in 2007, however, life offered her several teaching positions in the Los Angeles area that kept her here. When she is not working in the JEC office at KI she can be found teaching adjunct classes in Rhetoric, English Literature and Performance, Communication Studies and Humanities at several colleges/universities on the Westside. Roxanne attends and presents her research at several academic conferences a year and finds joy in working with student of all ages. When she actually gets a break from the field of education she enjoys walking around the Palisades bluffs, hiking, sampling new restaurants and spending time with her two precious pups Ella and Maci.

Jeffrey Baldinger

My name is Jeffrey Baldinger and this is my third year teaching at KI. This year I will be tutoring Hebrew. In my spare time I enjoy hiking. Something I am looking forward to this year is creating new friendships with staff, students and families.

Gili Beeri

My name is Gili Beeri and this is my fourteenth year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 2nd grade. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my kids, reading and working out. Something I am looking forward to this year is working with Debbie and my daughter Maya.

Sarah Beyeler

My name is Sarah Beyeler and this is my second year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 5th grade. In my spare time I enjoy reading and eating. Something I am looking forward to this year is teaching history to my students.

Debbie Dreiman

My name is Debbie Dreiman and this is my fifth year teaching at KI. This year I am teaching 2nd and 4th grade. In my spare time I enjoy relaxing and watching TV. Something I am looking forward to this year is working with Gili.

Rebecca Freund

My name is Rebecca Freund and this is my ninth year teaching at KI. This year I am tutoring Hebrew. In my spare time I like to play games like 3 truths and a lie and other fun games. Something I am looking forward to this year is seeing my old students and meeting my new ones.

Sheri Gerrman

My name is Sheri Gerrman and this is my first year teaching at KI, though I have worked with KI before. This year I will be tutoring Hebrew. In my spare time I like being with my two daughters. Something I am looking forward to this year is working with KI families again.

Josh Goldberg

My name is Josh Goldberg and this is my first year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching music. In my spare time I enjoy running marathons. Something I am looking forward to this year is singing with all of the kids.

Julia Gullotti

My name is Julia Gullotti and this is my first full year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 3rd and 6th grade. In my spare time I enjoy watching movies, going to the beach and creating art. Something I am looking forward to this year is teaching my own classes!

Nina Herzog

My name is Nina Herzog and this is my first year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 1st grade. In my spare time I enjoy singing, writing and being in nature. Something I am looking forward to this year is learning more about my family history.

Julia Hubner

My name is Julia Hubner and this is my first year teaching at KI, though I have worked for KI before. This year I will be teaching in OJE. In my spare time I enjoy reading, cycling and going to music festivals. Something I am looking forward to this year is spending time with the KI staff.

Camille Jackson

My name is Camille Jackson and this is my third year teaching at KI. This year I will be tutoring Hebrew. In my spare time I enjoy reading and hiking. Something I am looking forward to this year is being able to sleep in.

Jessica Jacobs

My name is Jessica Jacobs and this is my 7th year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 7th grade and Coordinating the Tutoring Program. In my spare time I enjoy performing improv comedy, writing a food blog called “LA on $20 a Day,” practicing yoga and taking my Pomeranian Chou Chou out on walks. Something I am looking forward to this year is teaching my own classes.

Julia Jasiunas

My name is Julia Jasiunas and this is my first year teaching at KI. This year I am teaching Kindergarten. In my spare time, I love watching old musicals and going to yoga.

Noelle Jones

My name is Noelle Jones and this is my second year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 1st grade. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family and watching TV. Something I am looking forward to this year is meeting all of the new kids!

Michelle Kaz

My name is Michelle Kaz and this is my thirteenth year teaching at KI. This year I will be a JEC floater. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, Zumba, and dancing. Something I am looking forward to this year is being able to work with my colleagues and with all of the kids!

Elenna (Lenny) King

My name is Elenna King and this is my sixth year teaching at KI. This year I am teaching 6th grade and KITT. In my spare time I like to get crafty, cook and travel. Something I am looking forward to this year is learning from a new class of students and exploring their Torah portions together.

Lauren Jane (LJ) Levine

My name is Lauren Jane Levine and this is my tenth year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 3rd grade, 6th grade and KITT. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, playing with my dogs and going to Dodger games. Something I am looking forward to this year is meeting students I haven’t taught before.

Ilana Rabin

My name is Ilana Rabin and this is my first year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching in OJE. In my spare time I enjoy pilates, cooking, playing piano, reading and hanging out with friends. Something I am looking forward to this year is working in a camp environment and getting to know the community.

Jandira Raphael

My name is Jandira Raphael and this is my seventh year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching Kindergarten. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my grandson. Something I am looking forward to this year is meet ing new people and to working with Rabbi Carrie.

Ariella Rohr

My name is Ariella Rohr and this is my second year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 4th grade. In my spare time I enjoy exploring Los Angeles like a tourist, teaching Hebrew and hanging out with my BFF who’s two years old! Something I am looking forward to this year is getting to know my awesome students.

Allie Shamash

My name is Allie Shamash and this is my first year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching OJE. In my spare time I enjoy baking, hiking, biking and spending time with my friends and my husband. Something I am looking forward to this year is getting to know the students and being at camp.

Rachael Stone

My name is Rachael Stone and this is my second year teaching at KI. This year I will be tutoring Hebrew. In my spare time I enjoy yoga, swimming, going to museums and concerts, and hiking. Something I am looking forward to this year is learning from all of my students.

Rachel Twersky

My name is Rachel Twersky and this is my third year teaching at KI. This year I am teaching 2nd and 6th grade as well as Rosh Hodesh and Yahad 45. In my spare time I like to spend time with friends and family, cook and watch sports. Something I am looking forward to this year is working with amazing colleagues and teaching a different grade level than I have in the past.

Aysha Wax

My name is Aysha Wax and this is my first year teaching at KI. This year I will be tutoring Hebrew and teaching in OJE. In my spare time I enjoy improv and sketch comedy. Something I am looking forward to this year is taking part in OJE.

Zach Zysman

My name is Zach Zysman and this is my fourteenth year teaching at KI. This year I will be teaching 7th grade and part of the OJE team. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my wife, Nadine, and our two children, Bernie (5) and Taryn (3). Something I am looking forward to this year is becoming a rabbi!
